Kordelya Zhan Sui Chi is an Archibald Prize artist well known for her portrait works in Australia.
Kody was born in Guangzhou, China, and graduated with a bachelor of arts from the Fine Arts Institute there. She wanted to explore the world and came to Australia in 1987, journeying back home for up to five months a year to reacquaint with the culture and to paint.
Her talent comes in buckets, or paint cans. The 2008 Archibald entry of her son, Julius, made the top five, and in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize she has made the top five three times.
She is also a sculptor, print maker and ceramic artist and in 2015 was a busy year having four exhibitions in her homeland.
Whatever defining term is given to 'Art', The creative process stems from the individual's heart. It is an internal dialogue based mainly on instinct and intuition. Whilst both instinct and intuition are themselves shaped by one's experience of reality, they all merge to shape, colour, inspire and pattern the creative outflow.
Whether working in stone or paint, this surge of images appears to be more real than reality itself. I personally am influenced by everything and nothing or put differently, I am trying to remain unaffected by this bewildering array of images and endeavour to retain my individuality and purity of heart.
I consider life a miracle.
I emerge through it all with sincerity.

It's a pleasure being involved with Kordelya and helping to present her wonderful works to a wider audience. When she wanted a website that befitted her talents we simply couldn't refuse. It's an honour to be involved with such a talented individual and playing a small part in her career.Ged Unsworth - Director
When Kody wanted to enter the 2009 Archibald, she aimed at the highest office in the land by asking Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to pose, but he declined. The PM sent her a polite letter to congratulate her on her "exceptional work" and wish her well for her artistic future.Suzanne Carbone SMH
