Introduction

Welcome

Kordelya Zhan Sui Chi is an Archibald Prize artist well known for her portrait works in Australia. Kody was born in Guangzhou, China, and graduated with a bachelor of arts from the Fine Arts Institute there. She wanted to explore the world and came to Australia in 1987, journeying back home for up to five months a year to reacquaint with the culture and to paint. Her talent comes in buckets, or paint cans. The 2008 Archibald entry of her son, Julius, made the top five, and in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize she has made the top five three times. She is also a sculptor, print maker and ceramic artist and in 2015 was a busy year having four exhibitions in her homeland.

My Passion

Whatever defining term is given to 'Art', The creative process stems from the individual's heart. It is an internal dialogue based mainly on instinct and intuition. Whilst both instinct and intuition are themselves shaped by one's experience of reality, they all merge to shape, colour, inspire and pattern the creative outflow. Whether working in stone or paint, this surge of images appears to be more real than reality itself. I personally am influenced by everything and nothing or put differently, I am trying to remain unaffected by this bewildering array of images and endeavour to retain my individuality and purity of heart. I consider life a miracle. I emerge through it all with sincerity.

My Artistic Philosophy

"Mind Effect and Formilunism"

A philosophical or psychological concept in which structured mental processes, influenced by imagination, intuition, or dreamlike states, create tangible effects in perception or reality. It is a blend of rational frameworks and creative, subconscious inspiration, emphasizing how structured thought and intuition work together to shape experiences and outcomes.

Mind Effect

The influence of mental states or processes on my work. It refers to:

  • Psychological impact: How thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and intentions shape our behavior, experiences, and even our physical health.
  • Mental causation: The idea that mental events can cause physical events.
  • Formilunism

    A neologism combining elements like:

  • Form: Shape, structure, or pattern.
  • Lunar: Relating to the moon and its cycles.
  • Interprative components

    A driving force:

  • Circadian rhythms: Biological processes that fluctuate on a roughly 24-hour cycle.
  • Lunar cycles: The phases of the moon and their potential impact on human behavior or natural phenomena.
  • A metaphorical or artistic concept exploring the connection between the mind, form, and the moon used in creative fields like: Sculptures, paintings, or installations that visually represent these ideas.
  • Acheivements and Bio
